Our cotton chino Chapter Member Hat is a nod to old-guard invitation only institutions, such as Prince Hall Freemasonry, The Boulé, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Jack and Jill of America, and The Links.
These prestigious organizations boast notable members, including U.S. Madam Vice President Kamala Harris, former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois, Dr. Betty Shabazz, Aaron Douglas, and Arthur Ashe. The groups are also recognized by The New York Times, Forbes, The Washington Post, FX’s Emmy-winning television series Atlanta, and Lawrence Otis Graham’s 1999 U.S. bestseller book, Our Kind of People: Inside America's Black Upper Class.
Notably, our founder and creative director, Theodore McFail, is a legacy member of his Jack and Jill chapter. Additionally, his mother, after whom Gilda George Tennis Club is named, is a charter member of her Delta Sigma Theta chapter and also a charter member and former president of her Links chapter.
